No, it is not acceptable and in fact is illegal to work on national holidays as per rules framed by the ministry of labour.
Some indian companies are worked national holidays(ex: independance, republic day) also, this is acceptable?
No. It's unfair for the workers there.
Reply:My old job I almost always had to work holidays (even Thanksgiving and Christmas), and it was a job with the US government! My current job I do not.
I would say it is up to the worker.
Reply:Um just because its a holiday doesn't mean that everyone is off of work. If that was the case then we wouldn't be able to get gas, buy groceries, or get our electrical lines fixed if they broke during a holiday. As for me--I work in cancer research so I'm basically on call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, holiday or no holiday.
Reply:News Flash! Some people all over the world work holidays.
At time and a half, though, it's acceptable enough to me.
Reply:here there is no problem in private firm
Reply:well its up to the people working, if they dont celebrate the holidays and they want to work, them so be it but if they celebrate it they want to be with there family or whatever then no its not acceptable
Reply:I am not Indian and do not work for an Indian company so it is ok with me if they do work Indians on Holidays.
Reply:some one has to keep the lights on
Reply:The workers will need to determine if it is acceptable or not. If they do not want to do it then they need to demand days off and not show up. However, if everyone isn't willing to do this then those workers will be seen as trouble makers and be replaced.
Reply:it depends
